Working at home

When do you need to have a boiler replaced?

Planning

Your home warms up much slower than it used to - The main indication of a malfunctioning boiler is a noticeable delay in heating. If your boiler takes longer to heat up than it did in the past, it likely indicates mechanical wear and tear. If you find yourself waiting longer than expected for the water in your tank or the overall house temperature to rise, it is crucial to have a Gas Safe Registered plumber inspect your boiler promptly. They can assess if it requires repair or replacement with a newer, more energy-efficient model. Addressing this issue sooner rather than later will not only benefit your comfort but also help reduce heating costs.

Your central heating boiler frequently breaks down - If your boiler is consistently breaking down every few months, it is no longer capable of providing reliable heating. While repairs are possible, they may not solve the underlying problem and may even worsen over time. If repair costs already seem burdensome, it's likely time to consider replacing the boiler with a new, highly efficient model that will improve reliability and energy consumption.

Working Remotely

As boilers age, maintenance costs tend to rise - This increase is primarily due to the challenges of finding and obtaining parts for older models, which gradually become obsolete as years go by. Furthermore, the materials used in older boilers deteriorate over time, making them more fragile and difficult to repair or upgrade.

Another indication that your boiler is consuming excess energy and causing higher utility bills is when you observe an unexplained increase in costs. This can be attributed to either your energy supplier's charges or your boiler's inefficiency in generating sufficient heat. To determine whether the boiler is the culprit, it is recommended to contact a gas safe plumber to evaluate its efficiency. If it falls below 75 percent, it's an opportune moment to consider replacing it with a new, energy-efficient boiler. Doing so will ensure more affordable warmth in your home.
